Wolves Split with UMary and CSP in Gypsy Days Tri

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University swim team opened up the weekend with a victory over Concordia-St. Paul and a loss to the University of Mary on Friday. The Wolves beat the Golden Bears 132-64, and fell to the Marauders by a score of 119-85. Northern saw 12 swimmers record a top-3 finish in the meet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Northern opened the tri meet with a second place finish in the 200 yard medley, as the team of Maddie Gonzales, Mayson Sheldon, Lauren Forsyth, and Connor Doran finished with a time of 1:54.02
  • Delaney Ryken led the way in the 1000 yard free, hitting the wall in 11:35.57 in second place
  • Doran and Holly Randall notched second and third place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle with times of 25.96 and 26.72
  • The 100 yard butterfly was led for the Wolves by Forsyth in second with a time of 1:01.33, followed by Marialuisa Avila in third with a time of 1:01.68
  • Stella Bullis notched a third place finish in the 100 yard freestyle, hitting the wall in 1:00.48
  • Northern State had one individual event winner on the afternoon as Mia Fursedonne won the 100 back with a time of 1:02.65
  • Gonzales recorded two individual third place finishes in the 200 IM (2:20.36) and the 100 back (1:03.25)
  • The Wolves NSIC swimmer to watch, Haley Osborne, recorded two individual third place finishes in the 200 free (1:59.94) and 500 free (5:32.44)
  • Mayson Sheldon led the way for NSU in the 100 yard breaststroke, taking second with a time of 1:11.50
  • The Wolves relay team of Osborne, Fanny Legros, Avila, and Doran won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:45.42 to close out the meet
