Northern State Swimming Dives into The 2021 Season Against Sioux Falls

Aberdeen, S.D. — Northern State swimming dives into the 2021 season at home from the Aberdeen YMCA as they welcome Sioux Falls in a 16-event dual. The match-up is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
 
GAME & FAN INFORMATION
  • Northern State and the Aberdeen Family YMCA will not be permitting fans into the facility, however the contest will be live streamed

ABOUT THE WOLVES
  • Northern State is coming off a 1-13 record last year
  • Head coach Nicole Monanian returns 16 and welcomes four new swimmers in 2020-21
  • The Northern Sun Preseason Coaches' Poll which was released a few weeks ago, ranked the Wolves seventh
  • The Wolves lone win last year came against Minnesota Morris with a score of 166-64
  • Lauren Forsyth is the NSIC swimmer to watch this season after recording personal bests in eight events during her freshman campaign
ABOUTH THE COUGARS
  • Sioux Falls is coming off a perfect 8-0 record and a third place in the Northern Sun Championship meet a season ago
  • The Cougars also earned a No. 15 national ranking and had four student-athletes earn All-American honors
  • USF is projected to finish third in the NSIC receiving one first-place vote in the coaches' poll
  • Chantal Kasch is the Cougars swimmer to watch this year; she recorded individual victories in the 100 breast (1:02.30), 200 breast (2:16.43), and the 50 breast during the 2018-19 season
  • Sioux Falls is led by Chris Hamstra in his third season
LAST MEETING
  • The first time these two programs met in the pool was back in 2016, when USF took the dual 109-95
  • The Wolves are 0-4 all-time against the Cougars, including a 128-73 road loss in 2019-20
  • Northern notched 13 top-3 finishes and seven top-2 finishes against the Cougars in the dual
  • NSU and USF will meet in the pool for the fifth time in program history
