Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field team will open the 2021 indoor season this Saturday in a dual at the University of Jamestown. Competition kicks off at 11 a.m. from the Jo-Ida Hansen Athletic Complex.

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD STORYLINES

• The Wolves were picked ninth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning 99 total points
• Northern returns 23 student-athletes from the 2019-20 roster and welcome ten incoming freshman and transfers
• Shanice Burrell and Dakota Hutzler were named the NSU athletes to watch for the season
• Burrell took third in the 60m hurdles at the NSIC Indoor Championships, earning all-conference accolades
• Hutzler took third in the pentathlon at the NSIC Indoor Championships, earning all-conference honors and broke the with 3,400 points
• In addition, NSU returns NSIC Indoor Conference Champion Kealy Hill, who won the pole vault and qualified for the NCAA Championships with a school record vault of 4.01m

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD STORYLINES

• The Wolves were picked fifth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll, following a fourth place championships finish in 2019-20
• NSU returns 28 from last year's roster and welcome 13 to the squad in 2020-21
• Tanner Berg and Jackson Harrison were tabbed as the athletes to watch for NSU this season
• Berg was the 2020 NSIC Champion in the weigh throw, as well as an All-Region and All-American honoree from the USTFCCCA
• Harrison placed 7th in the 5000m at NSIC Championships in 2019-20
