Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State swimming grabbed their first win of the season Friday night defeating Concordia College. NSU won all 13 events, while tacking on an individual lifetime personal best in the 1000 free from
Kenzi Matson.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wolves kicked things off with a first place finish in the 200 medley; the team of Maddie Gonzales, Mayson Sheldon, Lauren Forsyth, and Connor Doran combined for a time of 1:55.60
- In the 1000 free, Delaney Ryken took first place (11:24.38), followed by Hannah Kiernan in second (11:47.28) and Kenzie Matson in third with a lifetime personal best of 12:04.34
- Northern continued their success grabbing first and second place in the 200 free, as Marialuisa Avila took first with a time of 2:03.27 and Gonzales placed second with a time of 2:04.48
- Doran placed first in the 50 free hitting the wall in 25.93 seconds, while Melani Mercer grabbed third place in a time of 27.33 seconds
- In the 200 IM, Forsyth recorded a time of 2:20.19 winning the event, while Sheldon and Kennedy Davis rounded out the top-3 with times of 2:24.24 and 2:27.75 respectively
- NSU dominated the 200 fly, finishing one-two-three; Forsyth won the race (2:17.26), followed by Kiernan in second with a time of 2:26.98 and Ryken in third with a time of 2:27.59
- Doran recorded an event win of her own in the 100 free, stopping the clock at 55.94 seconds
- Gonzales claimed an event victory in the 200 back, hitting the wall in 2:11.89
- In the 500 free, Matson swam a 5:45.53 grabbing first place
- Northern swept the top-3 spots in the 200 breast with Grier in first (2:38.25), Sheldon in second (2:40.62), and Davis in third (2:51.41)
- The team of Holly Randall, Mercer, Ryken, and Avila notched an event victory in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:50.02
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- The Wolves recorded 13 event wins against Concordia College
- Matson set a new lifetime personal best in the 1000 free with a time of 12:04.34, beating her old personal best of 12:07.23
