Northern State Swimming Slated for Full Weekend in the Pool

Aberdeen, S.D. — Northern State swimming enters another weekend in the pool, taking on the University of Mary from home at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. NSU then travels Saturday, taking on Augustana at 12 p.m. and Sioux Falls at 4:15 p.m. from the MIDCO Aquatic Center.
 
GAME & FAN INFORMATION
  • Northern State and the Aberdeen Family YMCA will not be permitting fans into the facility, however the contest will be live streamed
  • Sioux Falls and the Midco Aquatic Center will have the dual live streamed as well with no visiting fans permitted into the venue

ABOUT THE WOLVES
  • Northern State enters the weekend 0-1 after an opening weekend defeat by USF
  • The Wolves tallied 18 top-3 finishes last weekend against the Cougars
  • NSU swam two close races in the 100 back from Maddie Gonzales and 100 breast from Mayson Sheldon; the pair missed winning each of the races by just one second
 
ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
  • UMary dives into their season this weekend against the Wolves
  • The Marauders are coming off a 6-4 season last year, after finishing fifth at the NSIC championship meet
  • University of May's Swimmer to Watch this year is Victoria Murillo; a conference champion in 2019-20 in the 200 free and 500 free
  • Murillo is also a 2-time NCAA qualifier and 2019-20 CSCAA All-American
  • The Marauders are led by Leah Neiheisel in her second season

  • Augustana kicks off their season this weekend
  • The Vikings went 6-4 last year as they finishing fourth at the conference championship meet
  • Augie's Swimmer to Watch this season is Taylor Beagle; she was named the NSIC Swimmer of the Year, NSIC Swimmer of the Meet, and tallied three top finishes in the 1000 free, 400 IM, and 1650 free at the 2019-20 league championships
  • Augustana is led by Lindsie Micko in her fifth season
 
ABOUT THE COUGARS
  • Sioux Falls enters the weekend dual with a 1-0 record 
  • The Cougars tallied 12 top finishes, as well as event wins the 200 medley and 200 free relays last weekend
  • USF is projected to finish third in the NSIC, receiving one first-place vote in the coaches' poll
  • Chantal Kasch is the Cougars Swimmer to Watch this year; she recorded individual victories in the 100 breast (1:02.30), 200 breast (2:16.43), and the 50 breast during the 2018-19 season
  • Sioux Falls is led by Chris Hamstra in his third season
