Northern State Athletics and Hub City Radio Extend Partnership Through 2025

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University and Hub City Radio have entered a 5-year agreement, extending the long standing partnership between the two entities. Hub City Radio will continue to be the exclusive radio broadcaster for Wolves Athletics.
 
"Hub City Radio is the leader in live sports radio coverage in this region and we look forward to the next 5 years in expanding on our partnership," explained Josh Moon, NSU Director of Athletics. "We are excited to have the Voice of the Wolves, Ben Root, continue to call the action and help provide the best game day coverage around. Thank you to Brian and the Hub City Radio team for their continued support of Wolves Athletics!"
 
Northern State football, men's basketball, and women's basketball games will be covered live on Fox Sports (1420 AM) and Pure Country (107.1 FM) by the 'Voice of the Wolves', Ben Root. In addition, Hub City Radio will provide webcast play-by-play for home volleyball matches, as well as selection baseball and softball doubleheaders.

Hub City Radio will sponsor the "Wolves Mid-Week" show throughout the year, featuring Northern State Athletic news, coaches, and student-athletes. In addition, Hub City Radio will provide press conference coverage when applicable. Northern State Athletic news and live game day links will be available at www.hubcityradio.com.
 
The 'Voice of the Wolves' Ben Root
Ben Root was born and raised in Southern California. While earning a few degrees and attending numerous junior colleges in the OC, Ben cut his chops calling softball, baseball, football, and basketball games at numerous west coast colleges before grabbing a full-time DJ gig in Washington in 2006. After stops in Wyoming, Nebraska, and another in Washington, Ben found his way to Milbank in 2010. He made the move to Aberdeen in 2011 and is now the Sports Director and the Voice of the NSU Wolves on Fox Sports Aberdeen 1420. Root was named the 2016 South Dakota Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association. He lives in Aberdeen with his wife Jennifer. Catch the 'Voice of the Wolves' weekdays at 10 a.m. during The Sports Hub on Fox Sports Aberdeen 1420 and on many of the Hub City Radio stations all throughout the day.
