Wolves Head to Green Bay for 2019 Opener

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State women's soccer heads out of town this weekend to open up regular season play against NCAA Division I Green Bay for the first ever meeting between these two squads.  The game is set to kick-off in Green Bay, Wis. at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6 the game will also be broadcast on ESPN 3.
 
About the Wolves
  • After closing out their preseason schedule 2-1, NSU looks to start the 2019 regular season in the right direction
  • The Wolves finished last season 4-4 on the road and will look to improve on that under Coach Gorski
  • NSU was picked tenth overall in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll after a 9-8-1 record last fall
  • Newcomers Haley Wammock and Morgan Bury were tabbed as the team's players to watch for the 2019 slate
  • Northern has a veteran roster heading into the 2019 regular season with 25 returning players, as well as student-athletes from 11 states and five different countries

  • Green Bay enters the match-up with a 3-1 record thus far in 2019
  • Caitlin Hawley leads the team with two goal this season and a .625 shot on goal percentage
  • Jordyn Cook is second on the team with one goal, while McKayla Kretscher has two assists on the year
  • Both Courtney Klatt and Claudia Janese have a win in the net for the Phoenix, with Klatt notching a team high eight saves
  • The Phoenix are led by first year head coach Jason Spain
