Aberdeen, S.D. – In their first 5-set match of the 2019 season, the No. 8 Northern State University volleyball team fell to No. 9 Southwest Minnesota State on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wolves fell 25-22 in the first set and despite a flat start to set two, battled back from a 17-9 deficit to take the second with a score of 25-22
- Northern sailed to a 25-17 victory in set three, however lost the following two sets with scores of 26-24 and 15-12
- The two teams were almost mirror images of each other statistically with the Wolves hitting .212 with 63 kills, 58 assists, and 75 digs, and the Mustangs hitting .211 with 62 kills, 56 assists, and 73 digs
- NSU hit a match high .344 in the third set with 17 kills and added eight aces and five blocks in the match
- Two Wolves recorded double digit kills, while three notched double digit digs
