Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University swim team is collaborating with Safe Harbor this fall, as a part of their annual community outreach effort. The Wolves will host a collection drive for the shelter through the Gypsy Days weekend (October 11-13).
 
"As an all-women's program lead by women I think it is important to contribute to organizations, like Safe Harbor that support women," noted head coach Nicole Monanian. "Safe Harbor is a great organization, and an excellent way to support the local women and families in our community. We are hoping to make a big impact on the local chapter in getting them the items that they are needing to fulfill their mission."
 
Wolves swimming is asking for the communities help is collecting items for the shelter. Individuals are also able to donate via cash or check. Checks should be made out to Safe Harbor. A collection box is set-up in Monanian's office (located across from the pool locker rooms in the Barnett Center) through October 13. "This is just another way for our program to give back to this community that gives us a great deal of support both in and out of the pool," added Monanian.

Originally formed in 1977, Safe Harbor began as a volunteer phone service providing information to women. Soon it was evident the community needed more than just a source of information, especially for women in need of shelter in a crisis situation. Today Safe Harbor serves women, men and children by providing shelter and resources for making positive life choices. We serve northeastern South Dakota including Brown, Campbell, Day, Edmunds, Marshall, McPherson and Potter counties.
