Wolves bring home seven event victories from UNK Loper Invite

Kearney, Neb. – The Northern State track and field took on the Nebraska Kearney Loper Invite Sunday, notching four event wins and 14 top-5 finishes on the men's side, and three event wins and 13 top-5 finishes on the women's side.  
 
MEN
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Alazae LeFaive tallied the first event victory for the Wolves in the javelin, throwing 54.66m (179-04) on his second attempt of the afternoon
  • The 4x100m team of Jacob Lackas, Trey Tiefenthaler, Jared Tyrrell, and Cade Larson ran a season best time of 43.06, finishing second overall
  • Lackas went on to win the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.84, followed by teammate Bryce Malsam in fourth, crossing the line at 15.12
  • Itoitz Rodriguez and Devin Sheridan led the way in the 400m dash, taking second and fourth with times of 49.06 and 50.37 respectively
  • Rodriguez also took fifth in the 200m dash, finishing with a time of 22.24
  • Tiefenthaler continued a strong day, winning the 100m dash with a time of 11 seconds flat, followed by Lackas in fifth with a time of 11.23
  • Jackson Harrison and Jorge Garcia took second and fourth in the 5000m run, finishing with times of 15:43.00 and 16:24.73 respectively
  • Kelson Brewer ran to a second place finish in the 400m hurdles, crossing the line at 56.80
  • In the field events, Trey Tiefenthaler finished third in the long jump, with a 6.60m (21-08.00) mark and won the triple jump with a 14.09m (46-02.75) mark
  • Austin Eppard and Jake Olson took fourth and fifth in the discus, throwing 49.41m (162-01) and 49.23m (161-06) respectively, which was a season best toss for Olson

WOMEN
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Paige Larson and Livia Wallace ran to first and second place finishes in the 3000m steeplechase with times of 11:58.72 and 12:03.92; Larson's win was the first of the day for the Wolves women
  • Hanneke Oosterwegel and Shanice Burrell ran to second and third place finishes in the 100m hurdles, with times of 14.27 and 14.51 respectively
  • Madison Barnes ran to a third place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 50.23, and followed with a second place finish in the 200m with a time of 25.54
  • Jennifer Clark took fifth in the 1500m run with a time of 5:06.88
  • Jordyn Sterud win the 5000m with a time of 19:59.70
  • Oosterwegel went on to win the 400m hurdles with a season best and national provisional mark of 1:01.34, followed by Isabel Kinzer in second with a time of 1:07.28
  • Tava Berg took second in the high jump, clearing 1.62m, followed by Sonia Alaman in fourth clearing 1.57m
  • Kealy Hill cleared 3.35m in the pole vault, taking third overall in the event
  • Jordan Menken led the women in the shot put, throwing 12.86m (42-02.25) in fourth overall

UP NEXT
The Wolves return to Aberdeen next Friday for their lone home meet of the 2019 season. Competition kicks off at 11 a.m. for the NSU Twilight from the Clark Swisher Activities Complex.
