Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University soccer and newly appointed head coach
Ryszard Gorski released the 2019 fall schedule for the Wolves today. Northern is slated for ten home games from the Athletic and Recreation Fields, kicked off by an exhibition contest versus the University of Manitoba on August 29 at 7 p.m.
"This is as competitive of a schedule as we could have asked for," noted Gorski. "The non-conference part of our schedule is excellent! Our conference schedule will bring its fair share of challenges, so it will be a great test all-around for this group of young women. Our returning players are eager for August to come and have been putting in the work up to this point taking positive steps towards our goal of having a successful season."
The Wolves officially open exhibition play on August 25 at Concordia Moorhead. Northern will then return to Aberdeen for the final exhibition game of the gall versus the University of Manitoba.
Northern's first regular season game of 2019 will be on the road at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay on Friday, September 6. A week later, Waldorf travels to Aberdeen to face the Wolves on September 12, before NSU closes out non-conference play versus Ferris State on September 15 in Minot.
"They don't come any easier than going on the road against a strong Division I opponent under new leadership, Wisconsin- Green Bay," Gorski added. "We then come home to Aberdeen to play at one of the finest soccer specific facilities in the country against an NAIA opponent, Waldorf College. We conclude our non-conference slate against an NCAA DII rival, Ferris State, who went 17-4-3 last season and reached the third round of the NCAA tournament."
The Wolves open the NSIC season on the road at UMary and Minot State, September 20 and 22. They welcome Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls to the NSU Athletic and Recreation fields September 27 and 29 to close out the month.
Winona State and Upper Iowa are on tap for Northern October 4 and 6 on the road, before the Wolves return home for the annual Gypsy Days weekend. NSU will face off against Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State October 11 and 13. Northern then travels for the final full road weekend at Augustana and Wayne State on October 18 and 20.
The Wolves open a 3-game home stand versus Minnesota State on October 25, and face Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota Crookston on October 27 and November 1. NSU closes out the regular season at Bemidji State on November 3 and at home versus MSU Moorhead on November 8.
