St. Joseph, Mo. – The Northern State University softball team battled with the second ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves ultimately fell in the contest, finishing the weekend with a 0-4 record from the Missouri Western Hy-Vee Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Central Oklahoma scored first with three runs in the bottom of the third inning, however the Wolves began to chip away in the fourth
- Kennady Thompson kicked off the Wolves rally in the fourth with a double to right center field
- Emma Terveer came around to score for Thompson on the following at-bat, as Jen Martin singled to left
- Julia Sullwold (pinch running for Martin) scored the final run of the inning for the Wolves on Cassidy Schaar's single up the middle
- Trailing by just one heading into the fifth, the NSU offense came alive with three runs on five hits, giving NSU a 5-3 lead
- Scoring for the Wolves in the fifth was Natalie Gabbert (pinch running for Jamie Fisher who single through the right side), Shayla Steinley (infield single), and Sara Bendt (single through the right side)
- The Bronchos re-took the lead in the bottom of the frame with three more runs on three hits
- The Wolves had runners on in the top of the seventh with back-to-back singles by Jen Martin and Rachel Reinke, however were unable to push a run across
- Northern tallied five runs on 12 hits without giving up an error defensively
- Fisher tallied the loss on the mound, giving up six earned runs on nine hits with three walks and one strikeout
