Lexington, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the 2019 All-Region teams earlier today, with three Northern State Wolves honored. Junior
Laura Snyder was named the Central Region Player of the Year, the first in program history, while
Ashley Rozell and
Jenna Reiff joined Snyder on the first team. All three Wolves will advance to the All-American ballot which will be released later this fall.
Snyder leads the Northern State offense this season with 425 total kills, averaging 4.25 kills per set with a .337 attack percentage. The junior recorded the 1,000 kill of her career this season and currently has 1,050. She has recorded double figure kills in 29 of the Wolves 31 matches this season, hitting over .400 in 11. The junior opened her career as the NSIC Freshman of the Year and was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Year this season. She is a three time NSIC All-Conference first team selection.
Rozell became the Northern State all-time assists leader earlier this season, with 5,107 career assists thus far. She has dished out 1,264 this season and ranks fourth in nation averaging 12.04 per set. In addition, she sits top-5 nationally in total assists and has paced the Northern State offense to a national second best attack percentage of .289. The senior has recorded over 50 assists in eight matches this season and the Wolves have hit over .300 in 17 matches this fall. Rozell is a 3-time NSIC All-Conference first team selection, 3-time CoSIDA Academic All-District® honoree, and now a 2-time AVCA All-Region recipient.
Reiff is second on the team offensively this season with 381 total kills, averaging 3.63 kills per set. She tallied the 1,000 kill of her career earlier this season and currently has 1,189. She has also been a key contributor defensively with a team second best 345 digs, averaging 3.29 per set. Reiff has tallied double figure kills in 21 matches this season and hit over .300 in 11 matches. She has back-to-back career highs in the last two matches for NSU, recording 25 kills. Reiff is a 3-time NSIC All-Conference first team selection.
