No. 7 Wolves Down No. 13 Wildcats in Route to NSIC Crown

Wayne, Neb. – A 4-set victory over No. 13 Wayne State College on Saturday evening sealed the first out-right conference championship in program history for No. 7 Northern State volleyball.  With the win and the championship, the Wolves earned the top seed in the NSIC Tournament which will begin next Friday from the Sanford Pentagon. The Wolves are the back-to-back NSIC Conference Champions and will head into the tournament on a 3-match win streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Wolves tallied a 25-18 victory in the opening set, however the Wildcats battled back for a 25-23 win in set two
  • Northern sealed the match with a 25-23 win in set three and 25-21 victory in set four
  • The two teams battled throughout the match, trading points and leads in each of the four sets
  • NSU hit a match high .274 with 63 kills, 61 assists, 80 digs, and eight aces
  • They added ten blocks and hit above .300 in the first and fourth sets
  • Three Wolves tallied double figures offensively, while four tallied double digit digs
  • In addition, three players recorded career highs in the match
  • Northern concludes the regular season 9-1 from Wachs Arena and 10-2 on the road
