Northern State Soccer Set for Another Weekend of Matches at Home

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State women's soccer comes home as they are in the final stretch of the 2019 season, with two of their remaining four home matches this weekend.  The Wolves will take on the 11-2 overall and 8-2 in NSIC Mavericks of Minnesota State at 7 p.m. on Friday, and the 11-0-2 overall and 8-0-2 in the conference play Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
 
ABOUT THE WOLVES
•    Northern enters the weekend 1-7-1 in league play and 3-8-1 overall coming off a double-overtime tie on Sunday against Wayne State
•    NSU took 17 shots over the weekend versus Augustana and Wayne
•    The Wolves are averaging 1.59 saves more than their opponents in all matches thus far
•    Northern is averaging 0.75 goals and 9.0 shots per game this season, with nine goals, 11 assists, 70 saves, and 65 corner kicks
•    Goalkeepers Haley Hillstrom and Morgan Bury have tallied a .787 save percentage on the season with 169 shots faced as a unit
•    Gaby Roman leads the offense with two goals on the year, while Shianne Rosselli and Haley Wommack have a team leading 22 and 17 shots respectively
•    Rosselli and Vanessa Mejia each have a team high two assists
 
ABOUT THE #21 MAVERICKS
•    The Mavericks enter this weekend 11-2-0 overall and 8-2-0 in NSIC play, and are currently ranked No. 21 in the national poll
•    MSU has held their opponents to eight goals through 13 games this season
•    Minnesota State is sporting a .531 shot on goal percentage, averaging 21.2 shots per game
•    Jenny Vetter leads the Mavericks with 12 of the teams 45 goals this season, while Brynn Desens has a team high eight assists
•    The Mavericks are led by head coach Brian Bahl in his sixth year

LAST MEETING
•    The Wolves fell to the Mavericks, 1-0, in 2018
•    NSU is 1-13-1 against MSU all-time dating back to 2006, where the Wolves fell to the Mavericks 0-2
 
ABOUT THE #16 GOLDEN BEARS
•    Concordia- St. Paul enters the weekend 11-0-2 overall, 8-0-2 in the conference, and 2-0-2 on the road this season
•    The Golden Bears are currently ranked No. 16 in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll
•    CSP swept Bemidji State (1-0) and Minnesota Crookston (2-0) last weekend
•    The Golden Bears have been dangerous in all 90 minutes of play scoring 13 goals in the first half and 11 in the second, averaging 1.92 goals per game
•    Concordia- St. Paul has conceded only five goals against all opponents this season
•    Hannah Pedersen leads the Golden Bears with seven assists, while Jena Berkland leads the team with a .720 shot on goal percentage, followed by Aimee Snapko with a .714 shot on goal percentage
