Brookings, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams too third (men) and fourth (women) overall from the SDSU Division II Invite, scoring 72.5 and 55 team points respectively. Collectively the Wolves tallied 16 personal records from the meet, as well as 28 top-10 finishes and two event wins.
Tayla Peterson led the way for the NSU women in the 60m dash, taking ninth overall with a time of 8.49.
Emma Rezac landed herself in the top-10 of the 200m dash, with a personal record time of 26.09. The sophomore also notched a personal record in the 400m of 58.51 in fifth overall.
Paige Larson opened the placing in the distance event, taking seventh in the mile with a time of 5:28.42. In the 3000m, sophomore
Livia Wallace hit the line at 11:18.35 in fourth place. Finally,
Megan Mooberry rounded out the distance events for the Wolves, taking fifth in the 5000m with a personal record time of 18:57.00.
Hanneke Oosterwegel and
Shanice Burrell each ran to season best times in the 60m hurdles, finishing in the top-5 in the event. Oosterwegel took third with a time of 8.83, while Burrell followed in fourth crossing the line at 9.00.
The 4x400m team of
Isabel Kinzer, Rezac,
Mackenzie Cruzen, and
Madison Barnes finished in third with a season best time of 4:03.90.
Moving to the field event,
Sonia Alaman tallied the lone event win for the Wolves taking the high jump crown. The junior cleared 1.62m, earning ten team points.
Tava Berg also placed in the event, taking eighth with a 1.52m mark.
Kealy Hill was one of three competitors to clear 3.27m in the pole vault, taking second overall by a judge's decision.
Jordan Menken notched the top finish in the shot put with a 13.77m throw in third place. The sophomore added a personal record in the weight throw with a mark of 14.59m.
Isaiha Fletcher opened a solid day in the 200m dash, taking seventh with a time of 22.63, which was two seconds faster than his seed mark. He followed that performance with another seventh place finish but this time in the 400m. The junior crossed the finish line in a personal record of 50.02.
Itoitz Rodriguez broke into the top-3 in the 600m run, with a time of 1:23.39.
Riccardo Done tallied a top-5 distance finish for NSU in the 3000m with a personal record time of 8:56.05.
Bryce Malsam advanced to finals in the 60m hurdles, taking sixth overall with a time of 8.56. The running events closed out for NSU with a second place finish in the 4x400m relay. The team of Fletcher,
Kelson Brewer, Rodriguez, and Sheridan crossed the finish line at 3:23.15.
Malsam moved on to the field events, coming home with the third best mark in the men's high jump. The junior cleared 1.90m.
TJ Hochstetler grabbed a personal record of his own in the pole vault, clearing 4.43m in third overall. He was followed by
Jacob Wiedrich in seventh, clearing 4.13m.
Hochstetler also recorded a second place finish in the long jump, with a jump of 6.57m.
Zach Busch and Malsam also found themselves in the top-10 jumping 6.40m and 6.18m in sixth and ninth overall.
Trey Tiefenthaler led the way in the triple jump, notching a 13.53m jump in fourth overall.
Tanner Berg opened the throwing events for the Wolves as the top Division II finisher in the men's shot put. The sophomore took second, throwing 15.96m. He went on to grabbed weight throw title with a 19.75m toss. His throw was over a meter and a half farther than his next closest opponent.
