Wolves Swimming drops meet to USF Friday evening

Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State University swimming team dropped the final home meet of the season Friday night to University of Sioux Falls by a final score of 76-126. Wolves drop to 1-8 in duals this season.
 
Hannah Kastigar picked up wins in the 200 Individual Medley with a "B" cut qualifying time of 2:05.29. In the next event, she tallied another "B" cut time in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:04.20.
 
The meet started with the 200-medley relay as the team of Ashley Dunn, Shayna Asuncion, Makyl Ziegler, and Sierra Ohm tallied a second place finish. Kalina Emaus finished in fourth place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:24.29. Emaus also placed in the 200 butterfly with a third place finish with a time of 2:17.39.
 
The third event of the meet was the 200 freestyle and Josie Gillund tallied a fourth place finish with a time of 2:02.89. Kenna Smith in the 50 freestyle finished in third place with a time of 26.68. Dunn also picked up a fourth place finish with a time of 2:23.15 in the 200 Individual Medley.
 
Gillund and Smith finished second, third respectively in the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.18 and 59.08. Sierra Ohm finished fourth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 59.26. Dunn, Metz, and Camille Kawasaki finished second, third, and fourth place in the 200 backstroke with the time of 2:22.22, 2:26.53, and 2:30.50 respectively.
 
Wolves also took second, third, and fourth place in the 500 freestyle. Dunn tallied another second place finish with a time of 5:34.03, Emaus finished in third with a time of 5:42.19, and Cassandra Maillet finished fourth with a time of 5:52.00. Asuncion tallied a second place finish with a time of 2:41.08 in the 200 breaststroke.
 
Ziegler and Becker finished fourth and fifth place with a time of 2:48.53 and 3:02.69 in the 200 breaststroke. In the final event of the meet, the Wolves finished in second place in the 400 freestyle relay and the team of Maillet, Walters, Gillund, and Kastigar with a time of 3:41.86.
 
Wolves are back in the pool one week from Friday in the Dragon Invite in Moorhead, Minn. First event will start at 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. /5 p.m. on Saturday.
