Minot, N.D. – The No. 3 Northern State University volleyball team came away with a 4-set victory in their first road NSIC contest of the season. The Wolves defeated Minot State, improving to 10-0 on the year and 2-0 in the league.
NSU took the first two sets 25-25 and 25-8, before falling 25-19 in the third. The quickly bounced back with a 25-14 set four victory to seal the match win. The Wolves hit .319 in the match, with a set high .550 in the second. Northern totaled a match high 52 kills, 62 digs, seven aces, and six blocks. The held the Beavers to a .097 attack percentage on defense, forcing 29 hitting errors.
Jenna Reiff led the offense with 17 kills, followed by
Hailey Busch and
Laura Snyder with 14 and 13 respectively. Reiff also tallied a team high four blocks, and hit .600 in the match. Snyder was second on the tam hitting .440, while
Morgan Baufield hit .375 with four kills.
Sally Gaul and
Regan Dennis each tallied two kills, rounding out the team total.
Ashley Rozell paced the Wolves offense with 51 assists, averaging 12.75 per set. The junior led the team with four service aces, and added nine digs.
Jaiden Langlie averaged 5.0 digs per set, with a team high 20, while also tallying one ace.
Lexi Boesl also landed in double figures with 14 digs, while Busch recorded seven. Snyder notched a team second best three blocks, while
Bry Goar and Baufield recorded the final two team service aces.
Northern returns to action on Tuesday evening from Wachs Arena. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. between the Wolves and MSU Moorhead.
