Baufield leads the No. 3 Wolves to weekend sweep with a win over the Mavericks

Aberdeen, S.D. – The No. 3 Northern State University volleyball team secured the Gypsy Days sweep after a 3-1 victory over Minnesota State on Saturday evening. After dropping the first set, the Wolves rattled off 25-23, 25-13, and 25-18 victories, improving to 16-1 overall and 8-1 in the NSIC.
 
The Wolves hit .257 in the match, with a match high .500 attack percentage in the third set. The combined for 56 kills, 67 digs, six blocks, and five aces. They held the Mavericks to a .241 attack percentage, as Minnesota State hit just .120 and .167 in the third and fourth sets.
 
Morgan Baufield hit a match high .412 in the win, recording nine kills on 17 swings with two attack errors. In terms of kills, Hailey Busch sat atop the Wolves offense with 18 total, followed by Sally Gaul and Laura Snyder with ten apiece. Snyder hit a team second best .333, while Jenna Reiff rounded out the offense with seven kills, hitting .294.
 
Ashley Rozell dished out 49 assists, averaging 12.25 per set, and led the Wolves defense with 14 digs, averaging 3.5 per set. She also tallied two kills and one block. Busch and Jaiden Langlie were second on the team with 12 digs apiece, while Lexi Boesl and Bry Goar each landed in double figures with 11 and ten respectively. Goar served up a match high three aces, followed by Busch and Langlie with one each.
 
Baufield also led the team at the net with four total blocks, as well as three digs. Snyder grabbed three blocks of her own, followed by Reiff with two.
 
Northern hits the road next weekend for a pair of matches versus Upper Iowa and Winona State. Start times are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday versus the Peacocks and 5 p.m. on Saturday against the Warriors.
