Wolves Soccer Picked Tenth in NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll

Burnsville, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released today the 2018 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll, with the Northern State Wolves picked tenth overall in the league. NSU garnered 99 points, with Minnesota State picked to win the conference with 220 points.

The Northern State University soccer team enters the 2018 campaign after a twelfth place finish in the NSIC in 2017. The Wolves started off the season fast going 3-1 overall and 2-0 in NSIC play. Two returning starters made the NSIC All-Conference in the 2017 season, as Stephany Estrada was named to the third team and Shianne Rosselli to the honorable mention team. Rosselli led the team with four goals last season, while Estrada led the Wolves with five assists on the season. Northern State brings in ten new freshman this season, and return five starters in Estrada, Nakae, Reiten, Rosselli, and Thorpe from a season ago. The 2018 roster features student-athletes from eight different states and three different countries. Northern opens the year at home against Black Hills State in the inaugural season from the NSU Athletic and Recreation Fields.

Shianne Rosselli and Tori Thorpe were named players to watch in the 2018 season. Shianne Rosselli named to the NSIC All-Conference honorable mention team in 2017. Led the team with four goals, ten points, and 12 shots on goal in the 2017 campaign. Started in all 17 games in the 2017 campaign with a .429 shot on goal percentage. Tori Thorpe anchored the defense which completed two shutouts in the 2017 season against Black Hills State and MSU Moorhead. Started in all 17 games as a true freshman a season ago. Recorded a .200 shot on goal percentage
