Five Players in Double Figures as Wolves Roll Past Golden Eagles

Crookston Minn. – Northern State University women's basketball team won Friday night over Minnesota Crookston 89-66. The Wolves improve to 21-4 overall and 16-3 in NSIC play.
 
The Wolves led throughout the game taking a five point lead after the first quarter. NSU extended the lead to eight heading into the intermission. The Wolves shot 56.6 percent from the field and allowed Crookston to shoot 41.3 percent in the first half. Northern State out-scored the Golden Eagles by 11-points in the third quarter to cruise to a victory.
 
NSU shot 56.9 percent from the field for the game, 57.1 percent from behind the arc, and 87.5 percent from the free throw line. Defensively, the Wolves allowed 44.9 percent from the floor, 44.0 percent from the 3-point line, and 64.7 from the free throw line. The Wolves out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 37-20, had 36 points in the paint, 16 points off of 11 turnovers, and 13 points off of 13 offensive rebounds.
 
Haley Froelich lead all scorers with 20 points, she also tallied seven rebounds, one assist, shot 4-for-4 from the arc. Brianna Kusler poured in 17 points and three rebounds. Jill Conrad also notched double figures with 14 points, three rebounds, and four assists. Miranda Ristau was the last starter in double figures with 11 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, one block, and one steal. Brynn Flakus rounded out the starting recording two points, six rebounds, and four rebounds.
 
Alexis Tappe led the team off the bench with 13 points, she also had five rebounds, and one assist. Anika Fredrick and Sara Tvedt each had four points, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal off the bench for Northern State. Gabby Laimer and Tori Mekash each tallied two points for the Wolves, as well as one block and one steal respectively.
 
The Wolves are back in action Saturday afternoon against Bemidji State University. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. against the Beavers.
