Women's Basketball drops conference game at MSU Moorhead Wednesday night

Moorhead, Minn. - The Northern State women's basketball team fell to MSU Moorhead by a final score of 51-60. Wolves drop to 4-7 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.
 
MSUM went on an early 8-0 run in the first quarter, as the Wolves trailed the Dragons by eight heading into the second quarter of play. NSU went on a 7-0 run in the second quarter to bring the lead to 10 with 1:14 left in the first half. Wolves were down 11 heading into halftime, shooting 40.0 percent from the field, making one three-pointer, and finishing with nine rebounds in the first half.
 
Northern State started the second half with an 8-3 run to bring the Dragon lead to seven with 6:09 left in the third quarter. NSU trailed MSUM by 13 heading into the final quarter. Northern State cut the lead to eight a couple of times in the fourth quarter but could not get any closer as the Wolves lose by a final of 51-60. NSU as a team shot 39.6 percent from the field, 20.0 percent from behind the arc, 26 points in the paint, and 29 rebounds.
 
Brianna Kusler tallied her second consecutive double-double finishing with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Zoe Hardwick recorded eight points, one assist, one block, and one steal. Anika Fredrick finished the game with six points, one rebound, and two steals. Lexi Wadsworth recorded five points and five rebounds in the loss.
 
The final starter for the Wolves was Brooke Luitjens finishing with two rebounds and one steal. Joie Spier tallied eight points off the bench for the Wolves, she also added five rebounds. Tori Mekash was the last player in the Wolves lineup with five points and one steal.
 
Wolves are back in action on December 30th for the final non-conference game of the season, as Metro State comes to Wachs Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. against the Road Runners.
