Wolves Swimming picks up the first dual win of the season against Minnesota Morris

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University women's swimming team picked up the first dual victory of the season as they defeated Minnesota Morris by a team score of 158-62. Wolves swimmers won every swimming event in the meet going 12-12 on the night.
 
Northern State picked up a relay victory in the 400 medley from the team of Murdock, Kastigar, Asuncion, and Gillund. In second place in the 400 medley relay was the team of Malimanek, Ziegler, Kawasaki, and Colingwood with a time of 4:25.45. In the final race of the event, NSU picked up a relay win in the 200 freestyle relay from Dunn, H. Ohm, Smith, and Maillet with a time of 1:47.37.
 
Cassandra Maillet picked up a race win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.99 and in the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.04. Emma Murdock picked up a race win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.88 and a second place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.12.
 
Makyl Ziegler picked up her first race win of her career in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:06.63 and in second place with a time of 1:06.74 is Lexie Malimanek. Ziegler also picked up a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Josie Gillund picked up a victory in the 500-yard freestyle and in the 1000 freestyle.
 
Ashley Dunn picked up a third place finish in the 200 freestyle and a second place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58:05. Kenna Smith picked up a third place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a finishing time of 27.39 and a top-three finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:08.35. Kristen Colingwood picked up a third place finish in the 500 freestyle with a finishing time 5:59.82.
 
Hannah Kastigar, Shayna Asuncion and Camille Kawasaki finished first, second, and third place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.67, 2:23.00, and 2:24.04 respectively. Kastigar also picked up a win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.10. Asuncion picked up a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.79. Jordan Metz picked up a second place finish with a time of 11:48.18 in the 1000 freestyle and a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle.
 
Wolves will hit the pool next Friday with a dual with Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D. Meet is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. against the Vikings.
