Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State Women's Soccer will kick off the regular season in their home opener against Black Hills State University On Saturday September 2
nd. The game is slated for 3 p.m. from Jerde Field.
Last season the Wolves finished with a 9-9 record overall and 7-8 mark in conference play, with six seniors and six underclassmen, returning to the squad this year including standouts
Sydney Shintaffer and
Darian Leschewski. Leschewski lead the NSU offense with 95 shots and 45 shots on goal and was second in the NSIC conference in shots and shots per game with an average of 5.28. Shintaffer was solid on the defensive side for the Wolves in the 2016 season. She held opponents to 16.2 shots per game and shooting percent of .068. Offensively, she added 19 shot and three goals for the Wolves. Heading into the 2017 season, NSU was picked to finish seventh overall in the league with 134 total points.

- NSU defeated the Yellow Jackets 8-1 in their match-up in the 2016 season.
- Northern out-shot Black Hills 42-7 in the win including a 25-5 margin for shots on goal.
- Leschewski led the offense with ten shots, seven shots on goal, and two goals.
- Shianne Rosselli and Stephany Estrada each notched their first goals of the regular season.
- Seniors Anna Bondy and Kay Hernandez combined for the other four scores in the game.

- BHSU finish 1-16 overall and 0-12 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in their inaugural season in 2016.
- The Yellow Jackets return their two leading scorers Katie Nielson and Rose Miller who combined for 19 goals last season.
- Therese Wilhelmi appeared in 15 games with 13 starts in the net and tallied 131 saves.
