Clermont, Fla. – In game one of the night, the Wolves picked up their ninth-straight win in a five inning 15-6 victory over Georgian Court University. The win would be the fifth double-digit run scoring game of the year for the Wolves, giving them momentum to face No. 16 ranked Southern Indiana in game two. The University of Southern Indiana would go on to snap the nine-game streak with a 6-1 win. Northern State is now 12-4 overall in the 2017 season.
Game One- Georgian Court University
NSU did not hesitate to get the bats going in the first game of the day, as they picked seven runs in their first two at bats, while holding Georgian Court to just two.
Sophomore
Jamie Fisher led off the bottom of the second with a double down the left field line for the Wolves.
Madison Rutter then tied the game with an RBI single to left center.
Lauren Kunz singled and
Katelynn Dilts walked to load the bases, however the following two batters struck out. With two runners on and two outs,
Kennady Thompson singled up the middle to put the Wolves up 4-2.
Katie Dawson approached the plate next to connect for her fifth homerun of the season. Dawson's three run shot broke the game open, 7-2 Wolves.
Georgian Court tacked on two runs in the bottom of the second off two walks and two singles, but the Wolves defense turned a 1-6-3 double play to end the inning.
Lauren Kunz led off the top of the third for the Wolves with a solo homerun, followed by a walk and two singles to increase the NSU lead to 9-4.
After the Lions scored an additional run, Northern responded with a four hit, six run top of the fifth to seal the 15-6 victory.
As a unit, NSU collected 17 hits in 32 at bats, including six walks and 16 RBIs.
Katie Dawson led the offense going 4-for-5 from the plate with six RBIs and two runs scored. Senior
Lauren Kunz went a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate with a homerun, a double, one RBI and three runs scored.

Madison Rutter tallied two hits a piece.
Rachel Albright made her third start from the mound, allowing four hits in 12 batters faced. Taking over in relief, sophomore
Jamie Fisher picked up the victory, allowing just two hits in three complete innings pitched. Fisher improves to 5-1 on the year.
Game Two- No. 16 Southern Indiana
After shutting the Screaming Eagles down in the top of the first,
Katelynn Dilts took a pitch to put a runner on in the bottom of the inning for the Wolves.
Shayla Steinley advanced Dilts with a sacrifice bunt to the left side.
Jenna Helgeson drew a walk in the following at bat to place
Katie Dawson at the plate with two outs. Dawson connected for an RBI single to score Dilts for the first run of the game.
Dawson was thrown out at two trying to stretch out a double and Southern Indiana would take over in the top of the second. The Screaming Eagles answered with two runs of their own to take the 2-1 lead off a double, a walk and a pair of singles.
Southern Indiana added a run in the fourth, two in the sixth and an insurance run in the top of the seventh to seal the 6-1 victory.
Northern State nabbed three team hits off the bats of
Kennady Thompson,
Katie Dawson and
Madison Rutter, as well as two walks from
Jenna Helgeson.
Missy Elkins suffered the loss from the mound, dropping to 4-3 overall in the 2017 season. Elkins held the Screaming Eagles to just three earned runs in six innings pitched, picking up two strikeouts and forcing 11 groundouts.
The Wolves will return to action tomorrow in their final day from the NTC Games. First pitch will take place at 7 a.m. CT against Lewis University, followed by a second game at 11 a.m. CT versus Pitt Johnstown.
