Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University swim team picked up their first win of the season as they defeated the University of Mary 144-117 on Saturday afternoon. As a unit, the Wolves finished the meet with seven first place finishes. The Wolves improve to 1-11 in dual meets this season.
NSU began the meet with the 400 medley relay team featuring Lexie Malimanek,
Kady Harris,
Karlie Brown, and
Maida Walters notching second place finish with a time of 4:12.12.
Edda Skoric led the Wolves with three first place finishes in the 200 free (2:00.42), 100 back (59.40), and 500 free (5:20.95). In her first place finish in the 500 free, Skoric defeated Mary Catherine Williams of U-Mary by a margin of 1.67 seconds.
Kady Harris followed finishing in first place in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 32:26 and 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.80.
Josie Gillund also nabbed a first place finish in the 100 free with a time of 56.27.
Kalina Emaus competed in the distance events finishing second in the 1000 free with a time of 11:15.60 and third in the 500 free with a time of 5:34.27.
Ashley Dunn took third in the 200 free (2:03.11) and 100 breaststroke (1:14.32), while also placing fourth in the 50 fly notching a time of 28.82.
Emaus, Gillund, Dunn, and Skoric capped of the day for the Wolves winning the 800 free relay with a time of 8:10.27.
The Wolves will hit the road next Friday as they travel for a dual against Minnesota Morris. Swimming starts at 5:30 p.m. from Morris, Minnesota.
