Kansas City, Mo. – The Northern State University women's basketball team fell to No. 13 Central Missouri on Saturday afternoon, 82-65. With the loss the Wolves fall to 1-1 overall, with four more non-conference games on their slate.
The Wolves battled throughout the game but weren't able to gain their footing as their largest lead came in the first quarter. The Jennies tallied 27 points off of 17 Wolves turnovers in the game. Northern shot 45.2 percent from the floor, 27.3 percent from the arc, and 60.0 percent from the foul line. They tallied 38 points in the paint, nine points off the bench, and eight points off turnovers. NSU out-rebounded CMU 40-35 in the game, notching 14 offensive boards and ten points.
Miranda Ristau led the team with 20 points, shooting 66.7 percent from the floor. The senior also added six rebounds.
Jill Conrad and
Jessi Marti followed with 12 and 11 points respectively, as Conrad shot a team leading 75.0 percent. Conrad added one assist and a team second best eight rebounds.
Brianna Kusler and
Alexis Tappe rounded out the starters with nine and four points each.
Tappe led the team with nine rebounds and four assists, while adding one block.
Brynn Flakus,
Gabby Laimer, and
Sara Tvedt each tallied three points off the bench, with Flakus notching five rebounds. Kusler and Marti each nabbed multiple assists with three and two in the game.
Northern returns home on Monday for the regular season home opener against Texas A&M International. Tip-off is schedule for 7 p.m. between the Dustdevils and Wolves.
