Aberdeen, S.D. – In their final regular season outing of 2017, the No. 7 Northern State University Wolves fell to the No. 15 Winona State Warriors, 3-0 from Wachs Arena. The Wolves drop to 23-5 overall and 16-4 in the NSIC. Northern currently sits third overall in the league standings with games still in progress.
NSU fell with set scores of 25-22, 25-20, and 25-17, as the Warriors topped the Wolves in all statistical categories. Northern hit .208 in the match with 37 kills, 34 assists, 48 digs, three blocks and two aces. They forced 16 Winona State attack errors, however gave up 47 kills.
Hailey Busch was the lone Wolf in double figures with 13 kills in the match. Laura Snyder had a solid day with a team second best eight kills on 12 swings with no errors. The NSIC Freshman of the Year led the team hitting .667, while adding two digs. Morgan Baufield and
Jenna Reiff each notched four kills, while
Ashley Rozell tallied three.
Rozell dished out 30 assists, bring her regular season total 1,145. The sophomore also nabbed the team's two service aces in the game.
Jaiden Langlie led the defense with 12 digs, averaging 4.00 per set. She was followed by Lexi Boesl,
Holly Vancura, and Busch with nine digs each. Reiff led the team at the net with two blocks, including one solo stop.
Northern returns to action from Wachs Arena on Wednesday for the first round of the NSIC Tournament. The opponent and game time will be released on nsuwolves.com following the completion of the full NSIC volleyball schedule.
