Crookston, Minn. – The NSU soccer team picked up their second road win of the season defeating UMC 2-1. The Wolves improve their record to 4-6-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the NSIC, while the Golden Eagles fall to 0-10-1 overall and 0-8-1 in conference.
The Golden Eagles were the first to score with a goal at the 40:24. As time ran down in the first half, both teams head to the locker room at half time with a score of 0-1. NSU came out with momentum with many shot on goal attempts, until
Tori Collesso dribbled up the left side of the field and kicked the ball past the hands of the UMC goalkeeper to tie the game 1-all. About 18 minutes later, Wolves gained the lead when
Stephany Estrada gave a pass to
Karli Harney who netted a goal to make the score 2-1. With time running out, the Golden Eagles could not answer back and the game ended with a Northern State victory.
NSU out shot UMC 21 shots with nine shots on goal to eight shots with four shots on goal. Collesso and Harney led the Wolves with one shot and one goal apiece.
Shianne Rosselli contributed five shots and one shot on goal, and
Emily Reiten tallied three shots and two shots on goal.
Justine Charles recorded three saves in 90 minutes of play.
The Wolves will hit the road again as they travel to Mankato and St. Paul, Minn. to match up against Minnesota State on Saturday and Concordia-St.Paul on Sunday.
