Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State volleyball earned a three-set sweep of Sioux Falls Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play at Wachs Arena.
The No. 13 Wolves (14-2, 7-1 NSIC) won by scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-21. It is the 10th time the Wolves have swept an opponent this season and gave the team a much-needed victory after falling to Concordia-St. Paul in their last outing.
The match also marked the much-anticipated return of Hailey Busch, who hadn't played since injuring her ankle two weeks ago. Prior to the injury, Busch was accounting for roughly a third of the Wolves' offense.
The junior picked up where she left off and led the team with 13 kills. Holly Vancura added nine kills, 10 digs and two aces. Ashley Rozell had seven aces and 32 assists.
The Wolves hit .252 as a team to the Cougars .224. The big difference in the match could be seen in serving where Northern had 11 aces and six serving errors compared to just three aces for Sioux Falls and five service erros.
Sioux Falls was led by Makenna Rockeman (10 kills), Megan Hamstad (21 assists) and Janelle Lam (10 digs).
Northern State hosts undefeated and top-ranked Southwest Minnesota State Saturday at 2 p.m.
