NSU Swim Team Heads to St. Cloud for Quad.

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University swim team hits the road as they travel to St. Cloud, Minn. to compete in a quad against Northern Michigan, St. Cloud State, and MSU Moorhead. The start times for the meet will be 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening and 10 a.m. on Saturday morning. 

The team returns to the pool after a loss to MSU Moorhead 171-107. The Wolves managed to earn five first place finishes with Edda Skoric and Kalina Emaus excelling in their events. Skoric recorded three first place finishes completing the 100 back (59.57), 200 back (2:07.58), and 500 free (5:22.79). Kalina Emaus tallied two first place finishes in the 200 fly posting a time of 2:15.47 and 1000 free with a time of 11:11.63.  Karlie Brown completed three individual races and placed second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:18.71, 100 fly with a time of 1:02.62, and 400 IM with a time of 4:55.49. The 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay teams finished second nabbing the times of 1:57.30 and 1:43.70.
 
About Northern Michigan
  • The Wildcats starts the season at 2-0 as they defeated Findlay 155-99 and 192-112 in their first meet of the season.
  • NMU is currently ranked 17th nationally in the CSAA/TYR Top 25 Preseason Poll.
  • Rachel Helm completed and finished first place in five individual races against Findlay, and was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week. 
  • Gabriella Spajic claimed four first place finishes in the 200 free (1:55.08), 200 IM (2:09.53), 200 fly (2:05.33), and 75 fly (42.65) in the dual against Findlay.
 
About St. Cloud State
  • The Huskies begins the 2017-2018 season at 0-2 with a loss to University of Wisconsin-Green Bay 106-136 and 95-129.
  • The 200 medley relay team captured first place with a time of 1:15.87.
  • Andrea Bryson led SCSU with three individual first place finishes in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.83, 500 free with a time of 5:13.99, and 100 free with a time 53.34.
  • Ashley Wilson finished first place in the 200 IM and 400 IM with the times of 2:13.32 and 4:42.95.
 
About MSU Moorhead
  • The MSUM are 2-0 on duals with a victory over U-Mary.
  • The 800 free relay team nabbed first place with a time of 8:14.26.
  • The 400 medley team also finished first place against Mary. 
  • Breah Anderson captured first place in the 50 free and 100 free with the times of 24.28 and 53.96.
  • Erin Sullivan also tallied first place finishes in the 100 back posting a time of 59.34 and 200 back with a time of 2:12.29.
 
A Season Ago
  • Hannah Kastigar nabbed first place finishes in the 200 free (1:54.95), 100 free (53.49), 400 IM (4:26.42), 200 fly (2:03.04), 100 fly (56.73), and 200 IM (2:03.22).
  • Edda Skoric had a top finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:11.00 and 200 free with a time of 2:02.25.
  • Kalina Emaus posted a time of 19:00.42 in the 1650 free placing her in fourth.
  • The relay team featuring Kastigar, Kady Harris, Ashley Dunn, and Kayla Sproles wrapped up the meet with a sixth place finish in the 50 free relay with a time of 1:43.84.
