Box Score Aberdeen, S.D.- The Northern State University women's soccer team opened their 2016 season from home this afternoon against the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets. The Wolves tallied an 8-1 victory to start the year with a 1-0 record, while the newly inaugurated Yellow Jackets drop their third straight game on the road, falling to 0-3 early in the season.
The Wolves found themselves down early in the match, as Black Hills State notched an early goal off the foot of freshman, Jessica Ryan. Ryan laid the first goal of the game deep into the right corner of the net against senior goalkeeper 
Stacey Cavill.
Northern State looked to respond to the deficient, fighting to keep the ball in their possession. The 
Darian Leschewski and 
Anna Bondy combination took charge for NSU, tying the game 1-1 as Leschewski connected for the Wolves' first goal of the season off a collected pass from Bondy at 14:59.
Tied at 1-1, 
Anna Bondy kept the momentum going for the Northern State offense, finding the net just seven minutes later for the go-ahead goal. The Wolves added two additional goals in the remaining minutes of the first period, as 
Darian Leschewski recorded her second of the match, and 
Stephany Estrada tallied her first collegiate goal by dribbling around the BHSU goalkeeper.
With a comfortable 4-1 lead heading into the second half, Northern State did not let up offensively. In the 48
th minute of action, freshman 
Shianne Rosselli intercepted a pass in the box to make it a four-goal margin in favor of the Wolves. Just minutes later, senior forward 
Anna Bondy, acquired two goals back-to-back for Northern State to complete a three-goal hat trick in the opener.
The Wolves defense continued to keep the Yellow Jackets out of their zone to allow for multiple NSU counterattacks. At 56:39, 
Kay Hernandez bent the ball off her left foot from the corner of the field. Tipping off the BHSU goalkeeper's hands, the ball landed in the net for Northern State's eighth and final goal of the match.
As a team NSU outshot BHSU 42-7. Of the Wolves' 42 shots, 25 were on target. Individually, 
Anna Bondy led the team with seven shots on goal, three goals and one assist. 
Darian Leschewski followed up with two goals of her own, while 
Kay Hernandez also had one goal and two assists. Nabbing their first collegiate goals were 
Stephany Estrada and 
Shianne Rosselli. Estrada also aided the Wolves in one of their four total assists.
Splitting halves, NSU goalkeepers 
Stacey Cavill and 
Justine Charles combined for four total saves, holding the Black Hills State offense to just one goal in 90 minutes of play.  
Northern State will continue their non-conference home-stretch from Jerde Field Wednesday, September 7
th against the University of Jamestown at 6 p.m..
