Score SheetBismarck, N.D. – In their finale NSIC dual of the season, the Northern State University wrestling team fell to the University of Mary 33-13. The Wolves drop to 7-14 overall and 1-7 in NSIC action, as they look forward to the NCAA Super Regionals next weekend.
Blake Perryman came away with the first victory of the night for NSU, defeating Dane Fischer in a 10-7 decision. Perryman took a 4-1 lead through the first three minutes of action. Fischer fought back to tie the score on two occasions in the final two periods, however Perryman sealed the victory with an escape and takedown in the final minute of action.
The Marauders continued to extend their lead with victories at 165 and 174 pounds.
David Murphy cut into that lead with a victory over Riley Nagel at 184 pounds. Nagel opened the match with the takedown, but not before Murphy tallied a reversal and four point nearfall. Nagel battled to open the second, however Murphy notched his first takedown of the match and went on to pin the Marauder at 4:38.
Joe Gomez went on to record back-to-back victories for NSU, defeating Tom DeVito at 197 pounds. Gomez came away with four team points, in a 15-4 major decision win. The junior recorded five takedowns throughout the match to help seal the victory.
The Wolves return to action February 27
th and 28
th for the NCAA Super Regionals. Augustana hosts the regionals from Sioux Falls, and the Elmen Center.
