Wolves Battle Golden Eagles and Beavers from Wachs this Weekend

Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State University men's basketball team will round out the NSIC regular season at home this weekend versus Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State. The Wolves will tip-off against the Golden Eagles, Friday at 8 p.m., and the Beavers, Saturday at 6 p.m. from Wachs Arena. The weekend will also feature the annual SAAC Dare to Share food drive and senior day. Fans are enchoraged to bring food items to the weekend basketball games. Those who bring 3 non-perishble food items, NSU SAAC will award them a coupon for a free scoop of custard compliments of Culvers. 

The Wolves return home after a weekend split at St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth. Skye Warwick led the team versus the Huskies with 20 points and five 3-point baskets, followed by Mack Arvidson with 18 points off the bench. DJ Pollard led the team in night two with 21 points and seven rebounds, as the Wolves tallied all five starters in double-digit scoring.  Warwick is currently leading the team averaging 14.9 points per game, while Carter Evans is pulling down a team leading 6.2 rebounds per game.  The Wolves are shooting 49.1% from the floor, 42.1% from the arc, and 69.1% from the foul line. NSU must cut down on costly turnovers and hit the boards hard this weekend to secure a first round NSIC Tournament home game. Skye Warwick tallied 35 points a weekend ago, giving him 1,207 in his career and moving him to 27th overall on the 1,000 point scorer's list.

About the Golden Eagles
    • Minnesota Crookston has struggled this season in league action with their lone NSIC victory coming against Wayne State in early December. 
    • C.J. Polk and Derrick Redd led the team averaging 13.1 and 11.7 points per game, while Gable Smith is grabbing a team leading 4.5 rebounds per game. 
    • UMC is shooting 40.8% from teh floor, 34.4% from 3-point range, and 71.0% from the foul line in 2015-16. 
    • Minnesota Crookston is led by second year head coach Dan Weisse. 

Last Match-Up
    • The two teams went to OT earlier this season, with NSU taking the 84-80 victory. 
    • Carter Evans led the team with 22 points and nine rebounds, followed by Skye Warwick with 20 points.

    • The Beavers are shooting 44.9% from the floor, 33.0% from the arc, and 69.6% from the free-throw line this season.
    • BSU is led by head coach Mike Boschee in his fourth season with the program. Boschee has a 44-40 record with the Beavers.

Last Match-Up
    • Bemidji State took the first contest of the season 90-89, on a last second game winning basket. 
    • Carter Evans led five NSU scorers in double-digits with a career high 24 points, while Darin Peterka dished out a career high 12 assists. 
    • BSU recorded 46 points in the paint and out-rebounded the Wolves 30-24 in the game.
