Northern Drops Road Contest to St. Cloud State

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Northern State University men's basketball team stacked up against a potent St. Cloud State team in Friday NSIC action. The Wolves fell to the Huskies 102-82 in the game, falling to 14-11 overall and 10-9 in the league.
 
Skye Warwick led the Wolves with a blistering 20 points, and five 3-pointers, in the first half of action. Warwick held the Wolves within six at halftime, after the Huskies shot 71.4 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from the arc. The two teams battled throughout the first half with multiple lead changes, however St. Cloud State broke things open in the second half outscoring the Wolves 53-39.
 
The Wolves tallied four in double-digit scoring, however were unable to shut down the Huskies on defense with six players scoring ten points or more. Mack Arvidson was second on the team with 18 points of the bench, while DJ Pollard and Michael Schreiber add 14 and ten points respectively. Pollard knocked down 5-of-6 from the floor to lead the team.
 
Northern shot 48.3 percent from the floor and 40.6 percent from the arc in the game, however suffered 19 points given up of turnovers and another 19 points off SCSU offensive boards. St. Cloud State out-rebounded Northern 38-21 in the game, while each team gave up 11 turnovers.
 
Darin Peterka led NSU with five assists and four rebounds, while adding five points. Carter Evans added a team co-leading four rebounds and four points, while Bo Fries and Ian Smith notched seven and four points respectively.
 
The Wolves return to action tomorrow night versus Minnesota Duluth at 6 p.m. on the road. Northern will then round out the regular season home next weekend versus Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State.
