Crookston, Minn. – The Northern State University men's basketball team completed the weekend road sweep with a 109-68 victory over Minnesota Crookston. In their first triple figure scoring game of the season the Wolves improved to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in NSIC action.
Northern shot 57.6 percent from the floor, 52.6 percent from the arc, and 92.0 percent from the foul line in the win, while holding the Golden Eagles to a 43.6 field goal percentage and 23.8 3-point percentage. The Wolves tallied 40 points in the paint, 17 points off turnovers, 13 second chance points, and a season high 50 points off the bench.
Logan Doyle led the team off the bench and in the game with 17 points, knocking down 7-of-9 from the floor. He also added a team second best six rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Ian Smith and
DJ Pollard led the team with seven rebounds each, and scored a team second and third best 15 and 13 points respectively. Smith led the team for the second straight night with six assists, followed by Pollard with four.
Justin Decker also notched four assists, and added eight points and three rebounds.
Carter Evans and
Bo Fries followed with 12 points each, while
Mack Arvidson rounded out the Wolves in double figures with 11 points.
Gabe King and
Cole Dahl each tallied seven points, while
Braxton Elliott and
Brayden McNeary notched five and two respectively.
On defensive Decker and Doyle led the team with a block each, while Pollard notched three of the team's seven steals. Doyle also led the team from the floor shooting 77.8 percent followed by Fries with a 62.5 mark and Smith shooting an even 60.0 percent.
The Wolves will remain on the road next weekend as the travel to MSU Moorhead for their final game of 2016. The two team's will tip-off at 6 p.m. following the women's game.
