Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University men's basketball team will face off against Mayville State in their final non-conference game of the season tomorrow from Wachs Arena. The Comets and Wolves will tip-off at 7 p.m. on Don Meyer Court in the midweek match-up.
The Wolves faced off in three non-conference match-ups beginning with a close loss to Southwest Minnesota State at home last week. Northern bounced back for two victories over Chadron State and Black Hills State on the road to improve to 3-2 on the year. The Wolves shot a week high 62.2% from the floor with 44 points in the paint versus the Mustangs. NSU shot 55.8% from the floor, 44.9% from the arc, and 69.6% from the foul line on the week. The Wolves also tallied their first overtime win of the season, defeating Black Hills State 82-76
DJ Pollard led the team in the three games with 51 points, averaging 17 per game.
Mack Arvidson and
Logan Doyle were close behind averaging 16.3 and 15.3 respectively. Doyle led the team with 34 rebounds, averaging 11.3 per game with a career high 18 versus Black Hills State. Heading into their final non-conference match-up, the Wolves are shooting 50.7% from the floor, 36.8% from the arc, and 72.0% from the foul line, while averaging 83.6 points and 36.4 rebounds per game.
