Wolves Continue NSIC Action by Hosting USF Dual

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University swim team will return home to compete in their fifth meet of the 2016-17 season, taking on the University of Sioux Falls Cougars. Early in the season, the Wolves have competed in the NSU Triangular, the Northern Michigan Quad and the MSU Moorhead Dual for an overall record of 1-8.

Junior Hannah Kastigar has found success by breaking school records in the 200 yard free, the 100 butterfly, the 200 butterfly, the 200 IM and the 400 IM. Kastigar was named NSIC Swimmer of the Week in each of the first three weeks of competition, accumulating 12 first place finishes and receiving NCAA B cut qualifying times in the 200 butterfly, the 400 IM and the 200 IM.

The Wolves also had four additional first place finishes in their last meet, the MSUM Dual. Kalina Emaus completed the 1650 yard freestyle in 18:44.02, Jamie Fuse notched a win in the 50 yard back with a time of 29.52, Edda Skoric hit the wall at 1:01.06 in the 100 yard backstroke to gain first place and Kayla Sproles beat out competitors in the 50 yard free with a time of 25.27.

The Wolves will host their second home meet of the year from the Aberdeen YMCA. NSU and USF will begin action at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
