Wolves Host NSU Triangular to Open 2016-17 Season

Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State University swim team will open the 2016-17 season by hosting the Northern State Triangular, featuring NSIC opponents, Augustana University and the University of Mary.

The Wolves enter the season after breaking three school records in the previous year, recording a 24.22 in the 50 free (Kayla Sproles), 3:83.45 in the 400 free relay (Kayla Sproles, Katelyn Rhodes, Eliza Jacob, Cassandra Maillet) and 7:56.66 (Kayla Sproles, Katelyn Rhodes, Eliza Jacob, Ashley Dunn) in the 800 free relay.

Involved in each of the three records, junior Kayla Sproles returns as one of NSU's top performers. The junior aided in NSU's success in the 2015 season, where they defeated Concordia College, the University of Minnesota Morris and the University of Nebraska Kearney in a series of duals. Northern State returns 12 swimmers, while adding eight newcomers to the roster.

Junior Hannah Kastigar looks to assist the Wolves as the Northern State Swimmer to Watch, as well as the NSIC Preseason Swimmer to Watch. Kastigar, a Division I transfer from Grand Canyon State University, is A WAC Championships finalist and WAC Swimmer of the Year.

The Wolves will begin the triangular against Augustana and U-Mary at 5:30 p.m. from the Aberdeen YMCA.
