Aberdeen, S.D. – The No. 13 Northern State University volleyball team fell to No. 6 Winona State University in Friday NSIC action 3-0 from Wachs Arena. The Wolves drop to 15-6 overall and 8-5 in league action, falling with set scores of 27-25, 25-9, and 25-22.
The Wolves hit. 154 as a team with 34 kills, 49 digs, 32 assists, three blocks, and one service ace. The Warriors hit .286 and tallied 50 kills, 50 assists, 59 digs, seven service aces, and three blocks. The two teams battled in the first set as the score was tied 12 times, and eight different lead changes occurred.
Lauren McCafferty led the team with ten kills, while
Tori Biach hit a team leading .417.
Jenna Reiff followed with seven kills, while
Holly Vancura and
Kellie Schmit tallied six kills apiece. Biach rounded out the team total with five, and was the only Wolf not to record an attack error.
NSU setter
Ashley Rozell led the team on defense with 11 digs, while adding 30 of the team's 32 assists. Biach and
Jaiden Langlie added eight digs each, while Vancura and Reiff notched six and five respectively. McCafferty and Schmitt led the team at the net with two blocks each in the match.
Northern will return to action tomorrow from Wachs Arena. The Wolves will face off against Upper Iowa University at 6 p.m.
