Marquette, Mich. – The Northern State University swim team competed in their second meet from the Northern Michigan Quad this morning, falling to three different opponents. The Wolves posted a 72-190 score against St. Cloud State, a 75-186 score to MSU Moorhead and a 67-195 final score versus Northern Michigan University.
As a unit, NSU tallied five top-5 finishes in individual races, with
Hannah Kastigar,
Kalina Emaus and
Edda Skoric excelling in their events.
Hannah Kastigar recorded three first places finishes with one new school record from the meet, completing the 200 yard butterfly in 2:03.40, the 100 yard butterfly in 56.73 and the 200 yard IM in 2:03.22. The junior's time in the 100 yard butterfly was enough to surpass the 2013 school record of 58.19.
Distance swimmer,
Kalina Emaus tallied a strong finish for Northern State in the 1650 yard free, posting a time of 19:00.42 to hold up a fourth place finish.
Edda Skoric also had a top finish as the freshman swam the 200 yard backstroke in 2:11.00, completing the race in third place.
Other top-10 finalist included,
Cassandra Maillet in the 200 yard free,
Edda Skoric in the 100 yard backstroke,
Eliza Jacob in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke, along with
Kalina Emaus in the 200 yard butterfly and the 500 yard free.
Makyl Ziegler also had a strong race for NSU, nabbing a personal record in the 200 yard breaststroke.
The relay team consisting of
Hannah Kastigar,
Kady Harris,
Ashley Dunn and
Kayla Sproles, wrapped up the meet with a solid sixth place finish in the 4 x 50 yard free relay. The foursome completed the race in 1:43.84 for the Wolves.
Northern State will look to face MSU Moorhead in a head-to-head dual on Saturday, October 21
st at 6 p.m. from the Alex Nemzek Swimming Pool.
