Marquette, Mich. – After the first night of competition from the Northern Michigan Quad, the Northern State University swim team was defeated by each of their three opponents. NSU posted a score of 84-229 against St. Cloud State, 89-224 against Northern Michigan and 95-218 versus MSU Moorhead.
Junior
Hannah Kastigar maintained momentum for NSU, nabbing three individual first place finishes for the team. Kastigar tallied a time of 1:54.95 in the 200 yard free, 53.49 in the 100 yard free and ended with a 4:26.42 in the 400 yard IM. The junior's time in the 200 yard free broke
Kayla Sproles 2015 school record of 1:56.03. Kastigar now holds three school records in her first two meets of the season.
As a unit, the Wolves recorded ten top-10 finishes.
Kalina Emaus tallied a seventh place finish in the 1000 yard free, hitting the wall at 11:22.60. Freshman
Edda Skoric was also among top finishers in the 200 yard free with a time of 2:02.25.
Kady Harris scored two eighth place finishes in both breaststroke events, recording a 33.34 in the 50 yard breast and a 1:13.21 in the 100 yard breast.
Kamie Wagar finished out the night for the Wolves with a top-eight finish as well, completing the 50 yard butterfly at 28.22.
The Wolves will return to the pool to face Northern Michigan, St. Cloud State and MSU Moorhead once again at 10 a.m. tomorrow from the NMU Quad.
