Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University swim team will travel to Marquette, Michigan to compete in the Northern Michigan Quad, facing St. Cloud State University, MSU Moorhead and Northern Michigan. The team will return to action after splitting their first triangular meet from home, defeating U-Mary 209-52 and falling to Augustana 123-139.
As a unit, the Wolves recorded five individual first place finishes;
Hannah Kastigar in the 200 yard fly (2.03.08),
Hannah Kastigar in the 400 yard IM (4:25.02),
Kady Harris in the 100 yard breast (1:11.78),
Kayla Sproles in the 50 yard free (25.72) and
Edda Skoric in the 200 yard back (2:11.41). Sophomore
Kalina Emaus completed three different individual races in second place, including; the 1000 yard free, the 200 yard fly and the 500 yard free.
The NSU swim team will hit the pool at 4 p.m. on Friday, October 14
th for their first round of events, and continue the following day at 10 a.m.
About St. Cloud State University
- The Huskies were defeated 108.5-186.5 in a dual versus the University of North Dakota in their first week of action.
- SCSU received a first place performance in the women's 200 breaststroke by Brooke Calvin with a time of 2:24.68 and in the 200 IM by Ashley Wilson with a winning time of 2:14.03.
- The SCSU women's 400 free relay squad of Julie Schmitt, Bridget Opdahl, Kaitlin Heinen and Andrea Bryson also scored a first place time of 3:37.58.
About MSU Moorhead
- The Dragons have yet to compete in the 2016-17 season.
- MSU finished the 2015-16 season with an overall record of 7-5.
About Northern Michigan University
- The Wildcats earned a victory in the AU Fall Invite, defeating second place opponents Findlay University by 118.5.
- Nicola Pasquire won the 200 freestyle (1:56.61), the 500 freestyle (5:10.01) and the 1000 free (10:45.96).
- Other winners were Sara Foucault (400 IM, 4:46.43), Regan Kilburn (100 backstroke, 58.75) and Emily Bell (200 butterfly, 2:10.20).
