Box Score Wayne, Neb. – The Northern State University soccer team was defeated 3-2 in a double overtime match this afternoon against Wayne State College. With the loss, the Wolves fall to 4-4-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the NSIC, while the Wildcats improve to 5-2-2 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play.

Darian Leschewski, Bondy snuck the ball past WSC goalkeeper, Carys Hund.
The Wolves added to their 1-0 lead in the 35
th minute of play as
Darian Leschewski tallied goal number two for NSU from the top of the box. The Wildcats responded to the 2-0-deficit 19 seconds later after receiving the ball at midfield. Alexis Strothers cut the lead in half for Wayne State, placing the ball past senior goalkeeper,
Stacey Cavill.
The Wildcats tied the match 2-2 in the 46
th minute, and the two teams battled back and forth for the remaining minutes of regulation play.
Fifty-eight seconds into the second overtime period, the Wildcats took advantage of a throw in opportunity. Brooke Buzzell headed the ball into the net for the game-winning goal, giving Wayne State the 3-2 victory.
Northern State was outshot 26-15 in the match, ending with seven shots on goal.
Darian Leschewski led the NSU offense with seven shots, one goal and one assist, while
Anna Bondy recorded two shots on goal, one goal and one assist. Junior
Sydney Shintaffer also tallied two shots, each on pace for goal.
In over 100 minutes in the net,
Stacey Cavill finished with eleven saves, facing four corner kicks and allowing three goals.
The Wolves will continue action on the road tomorrow at 1 p.m. against the Augustana University Vikings.
