– The Northern State University men's basketball team completed the weekend sweep with a 94-70 victory over the University of Mary. The Wolves improved to 9-7 overall and 5-5 in league action, while the Marauders slipped to 13-3 on the year and 8-2 in the league. NSU and Wolves basketball welcomed members of the military to Saturday's game and auctioned off the camo, game-worn uniforms. Check back to nsuwolves.com for more info on the auctioned and its recipient.

Northern had scoring in mind to open the game, going on an eight point run in the first three minutes. The Wolves continued to pound out points, holding the lead through the entire first half. The two teams entered the locker room with NSU up 46-29. The Wolves shot 58.8 percent in the first half of play, and held the Marauders to a 37.9 percent mark. Darin Peterka was hot, scoring 13 points in the half, ultimately finishing the contest with a team leading 21.

The Wolves continued to lead by double-digit points throughout the second half, with their largest lead of 26 coming with two minutes remaining. U-Mary was on an eight game win streak, after defeating No. 3 MSU Moorhead a night ago, heading into the contest. Skye Warwick led the team with 12 points in the second half, all by virtue of the long ball. Warwick ended the night with a team second best 17 points.

DJ Pollard led the team on the boards with eight rebounds, as the Wolves out-rebounded the Marauders 30-26. Pollard added 13 points, one block, and shot a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor in the game. Mack Arvidson and Michael Schreiber led the Wolves off the bench with 12 points each. The pair shot 5-of-9 and 5-of-8 respectively.

As a unit, the men shot 62.1 percent from the floor, 59.1 percent from the arc, and 100 percent from the foul line on the night. They suffered only eight turnovers and forced 11 which resulted in 20 Northern points. On defense the Wolves held the Marauders shooting 46.4 percent from the floor and 26.7 percent from 3-point range. Mary edged out the Wolves on the offensive boards, however the Marauders were unable to make up the 24 points deficit.

Darin Peterka led the team with seven assists, while the Wolves tallied 17 total in the win. Peterka also notched the Wolves three steals and added six boards. Bo Fries recorded eight points of the bench, matched by Carter Evans with eight of his own. Evans added five rebounds, and the pair each tallied two assists.
