Score SheetAberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State wrestling team faced off against some steep competition in Saturday NSIC action, as No. 2 St. Cloud State came to town. The Wolves fell 44-4 in the dual, dropping to 5-9 overall and 0-3 in the league in duals this season.
Northern battled throughout the match, however was unable to overcome the strength of St. Cloud State. The Huskies entered the dual with top five NSIC wrestlers in each weight class, as well as five nationally ranked wrestlers and three number ones.
Joe Gomez tallied the Wolves win on the dual with a major decision victory over Trae Story. Gomez spent a majority of the match in control, tallying four takedowns. The junior ultimately defeated Story with a score of 11-2.
The Wolves will be back in action next Thursday at Southwest Minnesota State University. The NSIC match-up is set to start at 7 p.m. from Marshall.
