Southwest Baptist Live StatsAberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State University soccer team kick starts the weekend with a pair of non-conference games this Friday and Sunday. After winning both exhibition games, the Wolves will play Friday at Jerde Field against Spring Hill College (Ala.) at 5 pm and Sunday in Sioux Falls versus Southwest Baptist at 11 am.
NSU soccer anticipates a competitive fall after an overall record of 6-11-1 and 5-9-1 in NSIC play in 2014. The Wolves return seven key senior leaders in
Brittany Tietz,
Amber Wanous,
Andrea Boisner,
Allie Macdonald,
Amelia Taylor,
Anna Woern, and
Anastasia Alhamra. After being picked 12
th in the NSIC preseason poll, Coach
Steve Kehm and his experienced Wolves look to get the ball rolling for the 2015 season.
The statistical leaders returning for Northern are
Brittany Tietz and
Anna Bondy, being named the 2015 players to watch. As the Wolves starting goal keeper, Tietz tallied 111 saves, with a .822 save percentage. Bondy also contributed with 20 shots on goal, six goals, three assists, and 15 points.
About Spring Hill CollegeMaking the trip from Mobile, Alabama the Badger's will be taking on the Wolves after compiling a 4-9-3 record a season ago. SHC returns 12 players, and will be led by their first year head coach, Lisa Mann. With an experienced defense, Mann plans to install an explosive attack offense in the match up. This Friday's game will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.
About Southwest Baptist UniversitySouthwest Baptist enters competition this season after a 16-5-1 overall record in 2014. The Bearcats are coming off consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances the last two years and were picked to finish second in conference play this season. SBU is led by former goalkeeper, and first year head coach, Megan Link.
