St. Joseph, Mo. – The Northern State University softball team fell twice from the Missouri Western Apple Market Classic. The Wolves slide to 11-8 overall after falling to Washburn University and Missouri Western.
Washburn University The Wolves opened the day with a 1-10 loss versus the Ichabods in five innings of play. Northern's lone run came off the bat of
Brittney Lash with a homerun to left center field. Lash tallied one of the team's two hits in the game, while
Kelsey Gale notched a single in the third.
Missy Elkins suffered the loss in the game giving up ten hits and ten earned runs in five innings pitched.
Missouri Western The Northern bats struggled again in game two, as the team connected for one hit from junior
Kalie Maiden. The Griffon starter struck out four in the game.
Kami Smesmo fell in her third loss of the season giving up three earned runs in six innings pitched. Smesmo struck out five in the loss.
Northern will be back in action tomorrow versus Emporia State and Central Missouri from St. Joe.
