Wolves Fall to Vikings in Overtime of NSIC Semifinals

Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Northern State University men's basketball team took Augustana to overtime in their semifinal matchup from the NSIC/Sanford Health Men's Basketball Tournament. The Wolves fell with just seconds remaining in overtime with a score of 65-67.
 
Darin Peterka led the Wolves with 13 points and eight rebounds in the game. Seth Bachand and DJ Pollard each tallied ten points and six rebounds, while Pollard led the team with five assists.
 
The two teams battled back and forth throughout the game, with each team gaining the lead on three occasions and eight total ties. The Wolves held the largest lead of the game, ten points, with seven minutes remaining in the first half of play. Northern finished out the half up 35-33 over the Vikings.
 
Northern shot 48.3 percent in the first half of play and 39.1 percent in the game, led by Bachand who was 5-of-7 from the floor. Tydan Storrusten came up clutch for the Wolves hitting a jumper and one in the final seconds of overtime. The NSU defense however was unable to hold down Augie's Jansen who hit the game winner with only two seconds to go. Storrusten finished the night with six points, six rebounds, and three assists.
 
Skye Warwick and Mitch White scored eight and five points respectively for the Wolves, combining for a total of seven rebounds. The NSU bench scored 26 points, led by Peterka and Spencer Pankonin. Pankonin tallied nine points and four rebounds, while going 4-of-6 from the floor. Michael Schreiber was the final point scorer for the Wolves with four in the game.
 
The Wolves will now await their season fate Sunday with the NCAA Selection Show. NSU sat in sixth in the last Central Region Rankings.
