Minot, N.D. – The Northern State women's basketball team dropped a close match to Minot State University tonight by a final score of 61-69. The Wolves are now 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC, while the Beavers improve to an even 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Northern State had control of the lead going into the fourth quarter with the 46-44 advantage, however, Minot State managed to put up 25 points in the last 10 minutes of the game to seal the deal. NSU had been solid early in the 2015-16 season as they were 4-0 prior to this match with the lead at halftime.
Senior
Devon Brecke recorded a season high 17 points in the contest and went three for five from three-point range.
Lauren Deadrick and
Jill Conrad both nabbed double-digit points and rebounds in the match. Deadrick posted 11 total points and picked up 12 rebounds, while Conrad also connected for 11 points and tallied 10 additional rebounds for the Wolves.
NSU continues to outrebound their opponents as they came away with 48 compared to 28 total from Minot State. The Wolves were able to create scoring opportunities from 15 second chance points. Still, Northern State was held to a team shooting percentage of 35.0 from field goal range, as Minot State stayed consistent shooting 43.9 percentage.
The Wolves will be back in action to play their first home contest of the year on Tuesday for an exhibition match-up against Dakota Wesleyan at 7 p.m. from Wachs Arena.
